Zero no Tsukamia F Episode 1

January 11th, 2012 in Anime, Episodic Reviews, Zero no Tsukaima F by

So one of the anime i decided to cover this season is Zero no Tsukamia F, from the start of episode one (ref. image above)..  I would see this was going to be interesting to say the least (no comment on the fact Louise doesn’t seem to mind she isn’t the only one on that bed with Saito).

Now they pretty much went straight to the point here,  Louise and Tiffania are summoned by the Pope who tells them that they are the Three Void Users and that the fate of Romalia is up to them, cool. Just like the previous seasons we have quite a bit of fighting for Saito with Louise being excessively headstrong, Tiffany insecure and Siesta well… being Siesta (clearly the better match here but she keeps helping out the Saito x Louise pair).

Well, if you loved the last 3 seasons you’ll like this one, pretty much the same feel just different adventure. But hey, its supposed to be the final season so lets hope we have some sort of a progression and a definite choice from Saito about whom he chooses (I so deteste open ended anime). Well, i suppose its worth a watch, njoy! (more…)

Angel Beats!, First Impressions

December 14th, 2011 in Angel Beats, Anime, General Reviews by

Recently, (as in today) I started watching Angel Beats and by the end of episode 1, I had an intense urge to write up a first impressions review on it. Now firstly I have been hearing about this show for quite some time now and I guess I somewhat kept putting it off (no idea why), but hey, I’m glad I finally got around to it. Now, it starts with a middle school aged boy whom we shall call Otonashi who wakes and finds himself in the middle of the school grounds a few meters behind a girl, who so happens to be crouched, aiming an awesomely customized  M16 at the head of another seemingly harmless school girl. At this point of the show I sat back and thought ‘interesting, let’s see how this progresses’.

The girl (the one holding the gun called Yuri) starts to explain that this world was one that you go to after you die, and that you must fight this ‘angel’ person/being in order to remain here, and also that while you were here, it was impossible for you to die, seeing as you are already dead. The only thing was that if you decided to not go against Angel then you would ‘disappear’ and well, no one is sure what happens when you disappear, but it is assumed you may reincarnate as a random animal such as a flea or tadpole. Façade’s Top 10 Anime Movies

Okay, so to start off here is my disclaimer. I’m not exactly the best out there at neither rating shows nor have I seen every anime movie out there (reason why I called it Façades to 10 anime list and not just ’The Top 10….”). What I have here is my personal list, if you disagree, leave a comment also if there’s a great movie that isn’t there please give your recommendation, I possibly just haven’t seen it and hey I’m always interested in looking at new shows J. Another note, this list consists of Anime Movies and not OVA’s so more than likely, if there is a corresponding series for a movie, it will not be considered. Okay enough stalling, here we go! Howl's Moving Castle Review *spoiler free*

November 6th, 2011 in Anime, Howl's Moving Castle, Movies by

Howls Moving Castle

Perfection is the only word that comes to mind when I try to describe this movie, while it itself is relatively old (1998) the years have done nothing to diminish from the luster it presents. Although I have been hearing about it for many years now, I personally only saw it recently and I believe that would be a result of my first impression being that is was somewhat childlike and boring (probably due to seeing the big walking chicken feet castle in the trailer). I finally decided to watch it (had nothing left on my pc I had not seen) and to my pleasant surprise it is now hands down my favorite animated film, replacing Princess Mononoke for the number one spot, both directed by the prominent filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.

The movie is set in a pre World War I setting where magic and sorcery is incorporated in everyday life and revolves around a young 18 year old girl called Sophie who was transformed into a 90 year old lady due to a witches curse. Sophie ventures out in attempt to find someone to undo the curse and encounters a magic scarecrow who leads her to meet Howl, an extraordinarily powerful but infamous wizard who was rumored to eat the hearts of beautiful women, Calcifer, a powerful fire demon who powers the Castle and enables it to move and Markl, the young apprentice of who often creates potions and spells for Howls customers. Fairy Tail Episode 99 (Natsu vs Gildarts)

Natsu xs Gildarts

Natsu vs Gildarts!

Ah yes, I just woke up and besides feeling a bit groggy I’m feeling extremely lazy but I can’t stop thinking that I need to write this so here I go. Remember some time ago I mentioned that my ISP hated me, well ive finally found a way around that so I had pretty much my fill of updates yesterday since I had to catch up for almost 3 weeks of episodes. In this post I’m going to quickly describe the awesomeness that is Fairy Tail episode 99. I initially planned on compiling episodes 99 -101 into one huge post but episode 99 itself was so epic it deserved its own post.

Initially in the episode, remember we were at that point in the S class exam where everyone took their own route with one safe, 3 S-class fights and 3 team vs team fights. Unfortunately for Juvia and her partner Lisanna, they met up with Erza who as we all know, knows nothing about holding back so they pretty much lost, miserably. Of course after a little fanservice by our busty team of Cana and Lucy (and they decide to wash to wash their swimwear of course), we move on to the main focus of the episode, Natsu vs Gildarts. Natsu actually started off pretty well, okay not really but we did have a great show of moves on Natsu side of which impressed Gildarts himself. (more…)

An Introduction to Anime Watching

October 20th, 2011 in Anime, Miscellaneous, Resources by

How to Watch Anime

I was sitting on a step today and I began thinking, how did i start watching anime? What was it that glued me to this type of TV shows?Would I have hated it if i watched the series i’ve seen in a different order? After brainstorming for quite a while I came up with the conclusion that while there is no ‘wrong’ way to watch anime, when just being introduced to it, its better to view a few select staple shows first (shows that practically everyone loves) then slowly vary the genre till you find your own personal preference and  by then you’ll be able to stand on your own two feet in the world of anime.

Okay, so as i have stated in a previous post the anime Death Note is a must watch, not only that but it’s a great introduction to anime plus i guarantee bu the time your done you will be 1.5x smarter. If you disagree 🙂 please leave your compelling argument here  . Death Note is awesomely complimented by Code Geass so as a second its a great choice. Now, these two are pretty popular and almost anyone can recommend them to you, but the mistake that many make from this point is that they’ve had ther fill of psychological want to flip the script and move onto something ‘funny’ and ‘light’, unfortunately there are quite a few shows out there where instead of being just that they, well… they … ‘Incur the loss of brain cells’ for lack of another way of putting it, for example, (more…)

Sword of the Stranger Anime Review

October 13th, 2011 in Anime, Movies, Sword of the Stranger by

sword of the stranger

It seems that recently my ISP has taken a sudden dislike in me because they decided to be all slow and buggy and i am at the point where i can no longer stream my anime updates but i must download (via torrent or whatnot), sigh i need to remember to go to the main office and go all “Gear Second” on them (once piece fans know what im talking about ><. Well for now i’m taking this opportunity to watch various anime movies 😎 .  Ah yes, so a few days ago I had the pleasure of watching the anime ‘Sword of the Stranger‘ and what a show that was, being a single standalone movie (as in no, there isn’t a series) i honestly didn’t expect that much from it (as they tend to often lack character development and seem rushed) but i was never happier to be wrong. In fact i can that was the best full length anime movie ive seen since Princess Mononoke.

Okay, so when i initially pressed that Play Button the first thing i noticed was that the animation quality was remarkable, i actually stopped watching and looked up the year it was created, 2007 Awesome! It itself being one of the best years for anime (more…)

Fairy Tail Episode 98 Review

September 27th, 2011 in Anime, Fairy Tail, General Reviews by

Okay let me start by saying that was one of the best fairy tail episodes i have seen in some time, so lets retrace our steps back to episode 97 and do a short recap where where guild leader gramps (Makarov) announced the S class wizard Advancement Exam. There would be 8 participants (each allowed one partner) and only one would pass and be the next S-class wizard. Here we have our 8 along with their selected partners. GO NATSU!

Ao No Exorcist 23 Review

September 20th, 2011 in Anime, Ao No Exorcist, General Reviews by

Okay so i already did a general review of this anime but after watching this episode Ijust had to say a few words on it. For anyone who has been following this show i’m sure you’re thinking ‘O.o I totally didn’t see that coming’. Now this episode started out slow and predictable: Rin being a sacrificial lamb on the cross, Yukio rushing in to try and save him but oh no the super hell destroying bomb is already on its way and the only person who can stop it is Pope Ernst Frederik Egin himself (the guy who claims to be their grandfather and set up the whole Jacobs ladder scheme. Pretty sure everyone saw that far coming but then things started to get really interesting, after the horribly cliche martyr scene where Yukio so happily decided to switch places with his brother I swear someone just hit the fast forward on this episode. The blood ‘power’ spiked, Yukio himself decided to unleash his own awesome blue flames, the giant Gehenna (gate to hell) opened up, the plane arrived at the dropoff point and cannons the ‘messiah’ into the gate. Moment of silence here (or maybe it was just my brain going into overdrive and slowing down my perception of time). BOOM! ok it wasn’t exactly a boom, more like big flash of pinkish/purplish light and behold! Yup you got it satan gets pissed, unfortunately it wasn’t pissed in he NUUU you destroyed half of hell pissed, it was more of the ‘sigh why is this mosquito attempting to bite my titanium plated skin’ kinda pissed. Locust styled demons started pouring out, priests started to burn up which only meant one thing 🙂 satan was on his way here. (more…)
