After much wrangling (and more to come, as the main function of lists is to be argued about), I have determined this is the best current list:

Certainly, I am willing to accept other ideas or notions as to position, but I have yet to see something that really tops Ikki Tousin, as some sequences they have border on hentai, even ahead of High School of the Dead with some of the totally bizarre sequences they have. All you need is a mispositioned angle or an injudicious comment and there you go. Although Eiken and Sekirei are close in the rankings, I gave the nod to Eiken, in the fact that EVERY woman is possessed of a massive bust line, even some younger girls (and I do mean MASSIVE and I do mean YOUNGER), whereas Sekirei does have them ladies at least 18 or so to have that bust line, although the other considerations are there.

Ouran was chosen as 1, as we do see Haruhi in her underwear, but she is still demure; nothing flaunting or overly exposed. Again, I know that Tamaki shows off his manly chest, but, again, how does one rate male ecchi when one is not that prone or interested in it? Again, note the proviso “…the main function of lists is to be argued about.”

At the present time, I KNOW this list isn’t perfect. How many anime shows are out there? How many have I personally seen? How many have you personally seen? This is certainly based on what I have seen and what I feel works best. Some will argue that these are all comedies, which is correct. I feel that ecchi works better in a comedic situation that a dramatic one. I mean, there is a lot of ecchi in “Elfin Lied”, but I feel its power is negated by the level of violence. I can certainly cite other dramatic shows that have good ecchi content, but that it is more misapplied than enjoyed by what surrounds it. I look for a caliber of consistency.

The split between five and six on the list is do we actually see a fully uncovered breast? Certainly leading up to that position is more and more exposure and, potentially, more and more fleshy women or more daring situations and circumstances, but falling short of frontal nudity.

And what of the newer shows that come down the pike? What if Ikki is dislodged by a show that is completely outrageous? (And what that might be, I can’t even begin to fathom. Possibly “Queen’s Blade”?) Does Ikki get tossed out for a new standard or does the new show hew to that which is already in place?

And what if someone feels that Eiken should take the top honors? Well, I have to fall back on a proviso which I call “What’s That Action?” This defines actions and activities that are highly sexually charged, but hint at what has happened or what is happening without being graphic about it. This would be the tie-breaker.

I certainly welcome comments and suggestions, as this is really a work-in-progress. No one is going to be completely happy with what is presented, but if some degree or consensus is attained, then so much the better. At least one can understand what is covered (or uncovered) when they say that show is a 6.
